Alex Parrish, LPCi

I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in the state of Texas.  At the beginning of my career and educational journey I attended Texas Christian University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in child development.  During my time at TCU I interned with a non-profit organization where I got my first clinical experience working with victims of domestic violence.  My experience with the organization was rewarding and gave me the passion to purse a Masters degree in Counseling at Southern Methodist University.  During my time in graduate school I was able to continue expanding upon my clinical experience via internships with SMU’s Center for Family Counseling and Hope’s Door New Beginnings Center.  While at both of these agency’s I worked with a variety of clients including adolescents, young adults, couples, and victims of domestic violence.  I also gained experience working with parents in a group counseling setting, which I continued to do after graduating with my Masters in Counseling degree from SMU.

Both my educational and professional experience allows me to see a variety of clients.  My main counseling style is a combination of client-centered and family systems, where I work collaboratively with each client and cater our sessions based on each of their unique needs.  Overall, my main goal for counseling is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for each client to be able to feel heard and understood.
