Angela Reed, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who would love to work with you or your family, ages 3 and up. I aim to recognize the strengths in your life, and encourage choices that will help you reach your personal goals.
My passion is serving children and survivors of domestic abuse. When working with survivors, I focus on self-esteem, developing boundaries, and self-care. In my work with children, I utilize play therapy, which allows children to communicate their thoughts and feelings through play. I hope to help my child clients identify their emotions and self-regulate. I also offer parents the opportunity to participate in Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). With CPRT, the parent(s) and I meet for 10 structured sessions, where the parent can learn to utilize many of the same skills used in play therapy. CPRT is designed to strengthen communication between the parent and the child without ever having to introduce the child to someone new (the counselor).
I grew up in Frisco, TX, and am excited to be a part of the Apple Counseling team at the Frisco location! I graduated from OU (Boomer Sooner!) where I received my Bachelors in Psychology. I then continued my education at UNT, where I received my Masters in Counseling. My experience with clients spans a variety of settings, including an elementary school, community counseling agency, college counseling clinic, and domestic violence shelter. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and pets, as well as playing video games.
